Central Ukraine
Central Ukraine is the largest and most recognized
ethnographic region of Ukraine, as Ukraine's national costume comes from
this region.
Composed of several sub-regions, Central Ukraine
dance styles feature wide, open body movements based on the basic "bihonets"
or "polka" step.
Best know for the famous HOPAK, this
region's style was popularized by the greatest of all Ukrainian dance
choreographers, Pavlo Virsky.
