Yearly Performances
Staged Ukrainian dance take lots of practice, and
one of the best opportunities for student learning is the live
performance stage! Throughout the year dancers at every level
learn lots of awesome dances, and performances allow dancers to showcase
their efforts and gain confidence in front of audiences.
For
pictures and details about Kryla performances, check out the
PERFORMANCES section.
Concerts & Stage Performances
Stage performance is a practiced art, and Kryla
takes several opportunities to develop this with our dancers every year.
Below is a list of our several yearly scheduled concerts and
performances:
-
Malanka Concert and Dance [January 14th or closest
weekend of that year] (all dance groups in the school)
-
Seniors Lodge Performance [February or March
evening] (Beginner to Senior dance groups)
-
Spring Celebration Concert [Sunday afternoon in Late
April - Early May] (all dance groups in the school)
Festivals & Competitions
As well almost all of the groups participate in a
festival or competition during the year, and the participation is based
on the following plan - please recognize that this changes from time to
time, and parents are always involved in the decision to add to this
festival attendance list
- Junior Level [one festival - one dance] [St. Paul or St.
Albert]
- Intermediate Level [one festival - two dances] [St. Paul or
St. Albert]
- Senior Level [two festivals - 2-3 dances] [St. Albert, North
Battleford, Vermilion]
- Performance Level [two festivals - 3-5 dances] [St. Albert, North
Battleford, Vermilion, Airdrie, Calgary, or other as determined
yearly]
As well, the Intermediate, Senior, and Performance groups do get
asked to perform at community functions. These performances are
committed to only after parents are asked regarding attendance of their
dancer.
